Something Good In The World Inc

The Children's Peaceful Garden

With support from an international team of gardeners and landscape artists, the Children’s Peaceful Garden was created for the first time in 2000, and became a template for children’s play spaces around the world. The project includes adults and children working together to create a sanctuary dedicated to peaceful and imaginative play, while learning how to plant, landscape, and design in harmony with the environment.

The Children’s Peaceful Garden at Hilltop Hanover Farm in Yorktown, NY, includes native woodland plants, flowers to attract beneficial insects and pollinators, sensory-oriented gardens, organic vegetables, a constructed wetlands and pond fed by run-off water, as well as “trash to treasure” constructions from recycled materials. Visitors to the Children's Peaceful Garden are always welcome.

Children's Peaceful Garden Open Work Weekend

MAY 1 AND 2 - 12:00 NOON TO 4:00 P.M.
Come and join us for our annual Children's Peaceful Garden Open Work Weekend at Hilltop Hanover Farm.  All ages are invited to help us weed and prepare the soil for the native plant and flower gardens, plant new perennials and vegetables, use the seesaw to pump water from the wetland pond to water our gardens, and help us expand our boardwalk through the wetland garden!  Children can also enjoy the old-fashioned tire swing, visit the free-ranging chickens, and just enjoy an afternoon on the farm.  Bring along gardening tools, work gloves, and pack a picnic lunch.  Donations of native plants, herbs and flowers are welcome.
Admission: Free!
